The MNDF Fire and Rescue Service has begun operations after smoke was reported from a tower at Hiyaa Flats in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

According to MNDF, the Hulhumale’ Fire and Rescue Service responded to a fire that broke out at Hiyaa flat H-5. The fire started in the airshaft of an elevator.

As a safety measure, residents of the tower were evacuated. Firefighters are currently working at the scene to control the situation.
