Ooredoo Maldives has donated specialised underwater equipment to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) to support maritime security, search and rescue, and underwater operations.

The equipment was handed over at a ceremony held on 27 January, with Ooredoo Maldives Managing Director and CEO Khalid Al-Hamadi presenting the donation. Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon received the equipment on behalf of MNDF, in the presence of senior MNDF officials and representatives from Ooredoo Maldives.

The donated items include an Ocean Reef M105 digital dual-channel underwater communication system, a Lubell Lab underwater loudspeaker, and three Ocean Reef full-face Phase 2 diving masks. MNDF said the equipment will enhance diver safety, improve underwater communication, and strengthen operational effectiveness, particularly for the Coast Guard.

Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy thanked Ooredoo Maldives for the contribution, stating that the equipment will play an important role in strengthening the Coast Guard’s search and rescue and underwater response capabilities.

Ooredoo Maldives CEO Khalid Al-Hamadi said the ocean is central to the lives and livelihoods of Maldivians and noted that MNDF’s work is vital to national safety and security. He added that the company is pleased to support MNDF and remains committed to providing sustainable benefits to the community.
