Work has begun to renew traffic lines on the highway connecting Malé and Hulhumalé, as part of efforts to improve road safety.
Police said the line renewal work will be carried out nightly from 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. The project is being conducted by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), which is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the highway linking Malé, Hulhulé, and Hulhumalé.
While the work is ongoing, police have advised motorists to exercise caution when using the highway. HDC noted that several parts of the road infrastructure, including iron barriers on both sides of the highway, were severely damaged during previous repair work and traffic accidents. Some sections were temporarily patched, while others were broken.
The current work aims to improve safety conditions along the highway for all road users.
