A teacher has been charged in connection with the sexual abuse of several students, the Prosecutor General’s Office has said.

The accused, Shuaib Abdulla, was charged for offenses committed while he was working as a health and physical education teacher. The charges relate to the sexual abuse of two children.

A total of five charges have been filed against him, including two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in a position of trust, two counts of sexual activity with a minor in a position of trust, and possession of the Orion Card in the Maldives.

If convicted, Shuaib Abdulla faces a minimum prison sentence of 60 years, one month, and six days.
