An employee of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has tragically passed away after suffering a seizure while on duty.

MPL confirmed today that the incident involving the staff member, who worked at the Male' Commercial Harbor, occurred this morning. The deceased has been identified as Ameen Abdul Hameed, 30, who served as a Senior Deck Hand in the Marine Craft Section of the Fleet Service Department.

"While on duty, Ameen suffered a seizure and fell into the sea near the western jetty area of the Male' Commercial Harbor. Following the incident, the company's Health and Safety Department’s Emergency Response Team immediately attended to the scene. Ameen was rushed to IGMH via ambulance, where he unfortunately passed away while undergoing treatment," MPL stated.

According to MPL, Amin had been an employee of the company since 2020.
