State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has announced the successful completion of all technical works required to provide electricity to the 4,000 housing units developed in Hulhumalé Phase II under the 'Gedhoruveriya' scheme.
In a social media post today, STELCO confirmed that the scope of work included laying cables to the main panels, establishing and testing connections, and finalizing all technical requirements to deliver electricity from the panels directly to the individual apartments.
The process of handing over keys to the eligible recipients of the 'Gedhoruveriya' housing scheme is currently underway.
The Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development, Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed, previously noted that the flats would be handed over to tenants upon the completion of all finishing works.
Under the scheme, the monthly rent for a three-bedroom apartment is set at MVR 8,500, with an additional maintenance fee of MVR 1,500, bringing the total monthly payment to MVR 10,000. Tenants are also required to provide a security deposit or down payment of MVR 8,500.
For two-bedroom apartments, the monthly rent is MVR 6,000, supplemented by a MVR 1,000 maintenance fee, totaling MVR 7,000 per month. The security deposit or down payment for these units is MVR 6,000.
