President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that courageous individuals, like the legendary Ali Rasgefaan (Sultan Ali VI), will continue to uphold the dignity of the Maldivian people across generations.

In a post shared on social media platform X to mark Martyrs' Day, the President emphasized that the bravery displayed by Ali Rasgefaan, who stood against enemies until his final breath, will forever be cherished and honored in the Maldives.

"By the grace of Allah, resolute individuals like Ali Rasgefaan will safeguard the glory and dignity of every Maldivian generation. With the vast mercy of Almighty Allah, the Maldivian nation will remain independent," the President remarked.

The President further noted that the nation remembers with deep gratitude the enduring legacy of the heroes who fought and attained martyrdom for the country, as well as the brave souls who lost their lives while fulfilling their national duties.

Today marks the 482nd anniversary of the martyrdom of Ali Rasgefaan, who passed away on the 1st of Shauban in the year 965 AH.

Ali Rasgefaan ascended to the Maldivian throne in 965 AH and reigned for a period of two months and fifteen days.
