Hassan Shakir Mohamed has been appointed as the new President of the Dhivehi Language Academy.

He was appointed to the post following the resignation of Dr Ashraf Abdul Raheem on 31 December 2025. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu appointed Shakir as a member of the academy on 15 January 2026.

Following the change in leadership, Zulfa Ibrahim continues to serve as Vice President of the academy, a position she has held since 2021.

The other members of the Dhivehi Language Academy are Ibrahim Waheed Iyaz Jadulla Naseem, and Fathimath Azza.
