President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has established the Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency under the authority of Article 116(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives.

The agency was created in line with Section 38(a) of the Maldives Sports Act and will operate under the administrative oversight of the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation. The decision was announced today through Presidential Directive No. 5/2026.

According to the directive, the agency will be governed by an independent board tasked with implementing and overseeing anti-doping measures, despite its administrative placement under the ministry.

The establishment follows the ratification of the First Amendment to the Maldives Sports Act on 19 May 2025 and aims to promote fair play and integrity in sports across the country.

Under the directive, the number 1138 has been designated for official correspondence with the Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency.
