Reclamation works at Rasmalé Land Reclamation Project Site A have reached 51.64 percent completion, according to the latest update from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL).
Project data shows that 71 hectares have been reclaimed so far out of the planned total of 137.5 hectares at Site A. The reclamation is being carried out using Cristóbal Colón, one of the world’s two largest Trailer Suction Hopper Dredgers, with a capacity of 46,000 cubic metres. The vessel is operated by Jan De Nul.
MACL officially began reclamation works at Rasmalé Site A on 1 December 2025. The reclaimed land is being developed across 12 designated zones.
Rasmalé is a flagship housing and urban development project designed to address long-standing housing shortages in the Greater Malé Region.
