Maldives Ports Company Limited (MPL) has reported that a total of 329 tonnes of cargo has been exported through the Maldives’ sea-to-air cargo service.

According to information shared by MPL, the cargo was shipped to 20 countries in December 2025 using 10 different airlines. The sea-to-air service is designed to enable faster and safer delivery of goods that arrive in the Maldives by sea and are then transported onward by air.

The service was launched in 2024 by Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) in collaboration with MPL. MPL handled its first sea-to-air transshipment cargo in March 2025, marking the start of regular operations.

In May 2025, the service also facilitated its first shipment of garments transported from Bangladesh through the Maldives, highlighting the country’s growing role as a regional transshipment hub.
