The Maldives Meteorological Service has reported that air quality in the Greater Malé Region is improving and is expected to remain stable over the next three days.
Meteorologists said current conditions show cleaner air compared to recent days, and no further deterioration is anticipated in the short term.
Earlier, the Health Protection Agency (HPA) had issued an orange alert for the Greater Malé Region due to poor air quality. On December 25, 2025, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the area reached dangerous levels, prompting a red alert from the air quality monitoring system at the Center for Maritime Studies.
At that time, the AQI was recorded at 175, indicating air conditions that could pose health risks. Authorities continue to monitor the situation while advising the public to remain cautious.
