President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has said that the cooperation of local councils is essential to deliver on his development pledges for the islands, adding that such cooperation would be secured through the election of People’s National Congress (PNC) candidates.
Speaking at the inauguration of the PNC headquarters, the President said the government is working in a planned and constructive manner and confirmed that a number of PNC candidates will contest the upcoming local council elections. He urged voters to elect candidates who would fully cooperate with the government at island, local and city levels to help implement its commitments.
The President said significant progress has already been made over the past two years, with several pledges fulfilled and a number of major projects already underway. He added that work on many remaining pledges is scheduled to begin this year.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing full support at all administrative levels to implement the national budget and complete development plans, stressing that cooperation between the government and local councils is key to achieving these goals.
