Former Vice President of the Broadcasting Commission, Mohamed Fazeen, has been charged with sexual harassment of a commission employee.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said two charges have been filed against Fazeen, including sexual harassment and assault.

Fazeen was approved by the Maldivian Parliament as a member of the Broadcasting Commission on March 2, 2021, and was formally appointed by then-President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on March 7. He later became Vice President of the commission on January 19, 2023, following the resignation of Ahmed Gais.

He resigned from the Broadcasting Commission on March 17, 2025, after the Parliament’s Committee on Independent Institutions voted to dismiss him and forwarded the decision to the parliament floor.
