Police have arrested two men after seizing more than one kilogram of drugs during an operation in Malé City.

The arrests were made on January 5 in a joint operation carried out by the Drug Enforcement and Counter Narcotics Intelligence units. During the operation, police searched an apartment in Malé and discovered a large quantity of drugs.

Those arrested are Mohamed Evan Hamid, 23, and Mohamed Raidh Ali Asgar, 31.

Both suspects were presented to court for a remand hearing and were ordered to be held in custody for seven days. Police said investigations into the case are ongoing.
