Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdulla Shareef has been appointed as the Security Commander for the upcoming local council and Women’s Development Committee elections.

Police said commanders have been appointed to oversee security arrangements for both elections to ensure they are conducted safely and peacefully. The appointment letters were handed over during a meeting at the Commissioner of Police’s Office by Commissioner Ismail Naveen.

Police said discussions at the meeting focused on carrying out all election activities in a peaceful manner and ensuring a safe environment for all citizens.

Chief Superintendent of Police Hussain Sameer has been appointed as Deputy Commander. Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Athif will serve as Chief Technology Officer, while Superintendent of Police Abdul Matheen Abdul Kareem has been appointed as Tactical Commander.

The local council elections and Women’s Development Committee elections are scheduled to be held on April 4, 2025.
