Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has warned that action will be taken against individuals or businesses operating at Velana International Airport (VIA) without proper authorization.

MACL stated that only businesses and service providers issued permits under specific policies and agreements are allowed to operate at the airport. Any business or service activity carried out without these permits is prohibited.

According to MACL, permits have been granted for services such as SIM card sales and foreign currency exchange only to businesses that hold the required licenses and have signed agreements with the company. Authorized service providers must operate strictly from designated counters or facilities assigned under their agreements.

MACL also noted that employees of permitted businesses must wear official company uniforms or carry valid identification passes. Providing services outside the approved areas or beyond the terms of the agreement is not allowed.

The company emphasized that ensuring the safety of tourists and airport users, as well as maintaining service quality at VIA, is its responsibility. MACL added that it will not be responsible for any business losses resulting from enforcement actions taken against unauthorized operators.
