Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed met Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus in Dhaka today as the Special Envoy of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The Minister was in Bangladesh to attend the state funeral of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
During the meeting, Minister Dr Haidar conveyed condolences and greetings from President Dr Muizzu and noted the close ties between the Maldives and Bangladesh. He highlighted the contribution of Bangladeshi workers to Maldivian society and thanked Bangladesh for supporting Maldivian medical students through internship opportunities.
The Chief Adviser described the Maldives as a close friend of Bangladesh and shared views on regional cooperation. Minister Dr Haidar also extended best wishes for Bangladesh’s upcoming elections.
The Chief Adviser briefed the Minister on the current political situation and thanked the Maldives for its continued support. Both sides discussed the possibility of strengthening cooperation in areas such as ocean research. The meeting concluded with the delivery of a condolence message from President Dr Muizzu.
