The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has announced that efforts are underway to extend Aasandha health insurance coverage to eyeglasses prescribed at clinics and optical shops.

During public meetings conducted by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, several citizens expressed concerns about the high cost of eyeglasses and requested an increase in the assistance provided through the Aasandha scheme for this purpose.

In a press statement released last night, NSPA stated that in response to these concerns and suggestions from the public, they are working to expand the services provided under the Aasandha scheme to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for citizens.

Accordingly, NSPA has decided to extend Aasandha coverage to eyeglasses prescribed by registered optometrists at clinics and optical shops.

To implement this initiative, NSPA is currently developing the necessary regulations and plans to launch this service from the 15th of next month.
