The Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) has decided to reduce the fees charged for waste disposal services provided to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
During a meeting held on the 17th of this month between President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and SME owners, several entrepreneurs expressed concerns regarding the high fees charged by WAMCO for waste management.
In a statement released today, WAMCO announced that, in accordance with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's commitment, it has decided to provide relief by reducing the current fees for SMEs, effective from February 1st.
The corporation further noted that discussions are currently underway to introduce specific fee categories or "bands" to facilitate the reduction of charges for these businesses.
"Following these deliberations, the newly determined fee bands will be shared with the public and business community in the coming days," WAMCO's statement further clarified.
