Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a case where a person, suspected of theft, was allegedly assaulted and thrown into the sea.

Those arrested in this case are Ahmed Shareef, 50, of Andhaleebuge, B. Hithaadhoo, and Ahmed Haathim, 49, of Bluekiyaage, Thundi, L. Isdhoo.

Police reported that when the two individuals were presented to court for a detention hearing, they were remanded for a period of 15 days.

According to a video circulating on social media, the person suspected of theft was stripped of his shirt, thrown to the ground, dragged, and then thrown into the sea.

It has been noted that similar incidents of public assault on individuals suspected of theft have occurred previously.
