Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed announced that the bunkering service, initiated by the current government, has so far generated MVR 282 million, equivalent to USD 18.3 million.

The bunkering service commenced in September of last year.

During a press conference at the President's Office, Minister Saeed stated that, in addition to the MVR 282 million generated from bunkering services so far, an additional MVR 24 million has been collected in taxes.

The Minister affirmed that bunkering has a promising future and that operations will continue without interruption.

Saeed emphasized, "It has a future. We will not stop this work unfinished."

The bunkering service was launched in the Maldives with an estimated annual revenue of USD 400 million from the project.
