The long holiday for students, marking the conclusion of this year's academic session, commenced today.

Today, all schools across Malé and the atolls distributed the second-term report cards for the current academic year.

This marks the first time in four years that students are receiving their extended holiday in December, in line with the former practice. The previous government's decision to commence the academic year mid-calendar had led to dissatisfaction among some parents. In response, the current administration has reinstated the school's long holiday to December.

The academic year for the current year commenced on April 7th. During this academic year, approximately 84,000 students were enrolled in 217 government schools.

According to the academic calendar published by the Ministry of Education, the upcoming academic year will begin on January 27th. The mid-break for the first term is scheduled from May 24th to 30th, and the holiday for students at the conclusion of the first term will be from July 17th to August 1st.
