Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has announced that the area in front of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) will be temporarily made available for vessels operating from Zone A of Malé North Harbour. The measure has been introduced as the second phase of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu widening project in northern Malé City is carried out over a three-month period.
MPL said no fees will be charged for vessels using Jetty Number 1 during this temporary arrangement. Vessels will be allowed to enter and operate in the area with permission from Malé North Harbour, while vehicles will be permitted to access the quay wall within Zone A. The quay wall will remain open for a maximum of 10 days at a time, after which vehicles wishing to remain must re-enter through the queue system and access the area based on their turn.
MPL clarified that while temporary changes have been made for Zone A operations, there are no changes to the existing rules for vessels operating in Zone B and Zone C.
