Former Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, Ahmed Saeed, has appealed his four-year prison sentence for corruption.
Saeed appealed the verdict at the High Court, but the court registrar has yet to decide whether to accept the appeal. The case is currently at the submission stage.
The Criminal Court sentenced Saeed on September 28, 2025, after finding him guilty of misuse of official authority. The case relates to the release of funds in 2019 to Blazon Inc Pvt Ltd without confirming the completion of a project agreed between Fenaka Corporation Limited and the company.
The state said Fenaka Corporation suffered losses exceeding MVR 900,000 as a result of the action. The case was filed with the Criminal Court on December 26, 2024.
Former head of procurement at Fenaka Corporation, Mariyam Dheena Solih of Hoadhado, Fuvahmulah, was also charged in the case. Her trial is still ongoing.
