The regulation has been changed to allow for the cancellation of vehicle registrations for vehicles intended for destruction, even if outstanding fees remain unpaid.

Previously, it was not possible to cancel the registration of old or damaged vehicles intended for destruction if outstanding fees were due.

However, the Ministry of Transport announced yesterday that, effective January 1st of next year, the registration of vehicles intended for destruction can be cancelled even if their annual fees and fines remain unpaid.

This change has been introduced to alleviate difficulties faced by citizens in cancelling registrations and disposing of vehicles.

Nevertheless, it was also stated that all outstanding fees and fines up to the point of registration cancellation will remain as money owed to the state by the vehicle owner.
