Qatar Airways, the national airline of Qatar. has begun their operations from Velana International Airport (VIA)'s new terminal.
MACL announced today that the ceremony held yesterday at the terminal, marking the commencement of services for Qatar Airways, was graced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel.
The ceremony was attended by Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, CEO and MD of MACL, Paul Lucien, Vice President of Qatar Airways' Network Station, along with officials from Qatar Airways and senior officials from MACL.
To mark the commencement of services for Qatar Airways, the airline's counters were officially opened yesterday, and gifts were presented to 162 departing passengers. MACL further stated that a warm welcome, accompanied by cultural activities, was extended to 222 passengers who arrived in the Maldives on Qatar Airways' first flight, QR674, to dock at Terminal 1.
Qatar Airways is the first Qatari airline to begin operations from the new terminal. The airline commenced its flights to the Maldives on December 18, 2001.
With the inclusion of Qatar Airways, the new terminal now serves a total of 37 airlines. MACL's objective is to provide the most comprehensive and highest standard of service to all airlines operating to the Maldives.
