Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has appointed employees as Risk Champions to strengthen the company’s risk management efforts. The appointment took place at a ceremony held at Meermaa this afternoon.
Assistant Auditor General Ibrahim Fazeel conducted an awareness session for the Risk Champions. Following the session, badges and certificates were awarded to the appointed employees, which were presented by Fazeel.
Speaking at the event, MPL Chief Risk Officer Ibrahim Rasheed said ports are high-risk work environments. He highlighted that the safety and security of the Malé Commercial Harbour require special attention due to limited space and challenging working conditions.
Rasheed noted that these conditions create additional risks for MPL, making risk assessment essential in planning operations. He emphasized that Risk Champions are expected not only to manage risk documentation but also to raise awareness and influence risk-conscious behavior across the company.
MPL stated that Risk Champions have been appointed in every department and will work closely with the Risk and Compliance Department to identify and reduce risks. The initiative aims to build a knowledgeable, risk-aware workforce and strengthen MPL’s overall risk management framework.
