A stolen outboard engine has been recovered and subsequently returned to its rightful owner by the police.
Police reported that the engine, valued at MVR 140,000, was stolen while it was placed on the ground floor of a residence in Hulhumalé.
Following a report of the 40-horsepower engine's theft, officers from the Hulhumalé Phase One Police Patrol and Response and Investigation units initiated inquiries. Acting on intelligence gathered during the investigation, the engine was located on the 18th of this month after a search was conducted at a scrap metal weighing facility in Hulhumalé.
During the search, some parts of the engine were also discovered. The police stated that the stolen engine was found after it had been sold off as scrap metal for a meager MVR 1083.
However, no arrests have been made in connection with this case.
