Under the Rasmalé reclamation project, 23 hectares of land have been successfully reclaimed from Site A, out of the total 137.5 hectares planned for reclamation.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), one of the companies involved in the Rasmalé reclamation project, shared information with the media, stating that 23 hectares of land from Site A, which is designated to reclaim 137.5 hectares, have been fully completed, accounting for 17 percent of the entire project.

According to MACL, reclamation work for Site A commenced on the first day of this month.

MACL further specified that Rasmalé is currently being reclaimed using the Cristóbal Colón, which is recognized as one of the two largest dredgers presently operating globally. This dredge boasts a substantial capacity of 46,000 cubic meters.

The Rasmalé reclamation project is slated to reclaim a total of 1009 hectares. This extensive work is being carried out by three distinct companies.

Reclamation work for Rasmalé originally commenced on December 18th of last year.
