The People's National Front (PNF), established under the leadership of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom, has announced that Ismail Zariyand will be their candidate for the Malé City Mayoral position in the upcoming Local Council Elections.

Zariyand, who previously served as the Chairman of the National Tender Board during the administration of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, announced his candidacy for the Malé Mayoral post on a PNF ticket at the "Reset" rally held tonight at Artificial Beach by the party.

Speaking at the rally, Zariyand stated that the Malé City Council faces numerous issues, including matters of corruption.

He pledged that upon assuming the mayoral office, he would investigate and take action on corruption cases within the Malé City Council and would work to reclaim the lost rights of Malé residents.

Zariyand remarked that President Yameen was the leader who brought infrastructural development to the Maldives, and it was for this reason that he decided to move forward with him. He further expressed his desire for President Yameen to be the head of state while he serves as the Mayor of Malé.

Addressing the rally, President Yameen expressed confidence that Zariyand would bring happiness and smiles to the people of Malé as mayor. He clarified that Zariyand was given the ticket without any conditions related to joining the party or any specific agenda.

President Yameen described Zariyand not as a political candidate but as a national candidate capable of working with all citizens. He also commended Zariyand's efforts against corruption.
