Velana International Airport (VIA)'s new passenger terminal, Terminal 1, has officially begun providing services to Singapore Airlines, the national airline of Singapore.

To commemorate the commencement of Singapore Airlines services from VIA's new terminal, a special ceremony was held today at the terminal. The event was graced by Dhiraagu's CEO and Managing Director, Ismail Rasheed.

Attendees at the ceremony included Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, CEO and Managing Director of MACL, Haaziq Sulaiman, General Manager of Singapore Airlines, along with other senior officials from MACL.

MACL, which operates VIA, stated that to mark the beginning of services for Singapore Airlines at Terminal 1, the airline's counters were officially opened today. Gifts were presented to 205 departing passengers, and a warm, cultural welcome was extended to 244 passengers who arrived in the Maldives on Singapore Airlines' first flight, SQ432, to dock at Terminal 1.
