Former Maldive Gas Managing Director Abdulla Maumoon (Maanu) has appealed his 12-year prison sentence for bribery at the High Court.
Maanu was sentenced by the Criminal Court on 29 August 2025 after being found guilty of accepting a bribe of MVR 3.1 million from a foreign company related to the purchase of cooking gas during his tenure. He faces multiple charges, including bribery, abuse of power, and conspiracy.
The appeal has been submitted to the High Court and is currently at the “submission” stage. The court has also ordered the recovery of MVR 3,106,189 as part of the case.
