Drugs with an estimated street value of over MVR 2 million have been seized while being smuggled into the Maldives, Maldives Customs Service said.

Customs officials intercepted three kilos of cannabis leaves at Velana International Airport during an attempt to bring the drugs into the country by air.

The seized items are valued at approximately MVR 2.4 million. Authorities have not yet confirmed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the case.
