MTCC has announced that the second segment of the government's project to re-asphalt and upgrade Boduthakurufaanu Magu to modern standards will commence today. This follows the completion and official opening of the first segment yesterdayë
The practical work for widening, asphalting, and developing Boduthakurufaanu Magu in Malé, specifically from its northern side, began on August 21st of last year.
An MTCC official informed "One" today that work on the second segment is scheduled to commence this afternoon at 2:00 PM.
Under the first segment of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu widening project, the road was expanded to four lanes, asphalted, and extended outwards from the Fish Market area, stretching southwards to approximately the middle of Jumhooree Maidhaan (Republic Square).
As the second segment's work begins today, this phase will involve widening the road from the Fish Market area up to North Harbor.
MTCC was awarded the project to develop Boduthakurufaanu Magu to modern standards for a total cost of MVR 144,509,024.16 (144.5 million Rufiyaa), with a completion timeline of 455 days.
