President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has assured that the government will find a solution for residents who received one-room flats under previous housing schemes but now wish to apply for larger units.

Speaking at a community meeting with Maafannu residents at Thaajuddeen School, the President responded to concerns that current rules prevent one-room flat recipients from applying for two- or three-room units.

He said the government is reviewing the issue and will take it seriously, adding that a decision will be made in the coming days. The President acknowledged the challenges faced by affected residents and pledged that the government will work to ensure a fair opportunity for those seeking to upgrade their housing.

He assured that the government will find a fair solution for those who wish to relinquish their one-room flats.
