A delegation including major businesses from Saudi Arabia has arrived in the Maldives for investment discussions in the country.
The delegation, led by Saudi Arabia's Deputy Minister of Investments and International Relations, Sara Al Sa'eed, arrived in the Maldives yesterday afternoon.
The Saudi Embassy in the Maldives stated that during this three-day visit, the delegation is scheduled to hold discussions with the government on expanding investments between the two countries.
It is understood that an investment forum will also be held, targeting this delegation which includes Saudi government officials, to provide information on investment opportunities available in the Maldives. However, the exact date for this forum is not yet confirmed.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia were established on March 17, 1981.
Saudi Arabia is an important partner in the development of the Maldives. The country has provided assistance for the development of Velana International Airport, one of the Maldives' largest projects.
Additionally, significant aid has been provided to sectors such as transport, health, housing, and fisheries.
