President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has called upon the international community to translate solidarity into concrete action more effectively than before, and to work together to fully secure the rights of the Palestinian people.
The President made this call in a social media post on the occasion of today's International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
The President stated that as this day is observed today, the true situation in the region remains lamentable. He highlighted that due to Israel's violation of ceasefire agreements, the continued attacks by Israel on Gaza, the ongoing efforts to expand settlements, and the obstruction of travel, the Palestinian people have lost their peace and their hope for an economically prosperous future.
In his post, the President reiterated the Maldives' commitment to unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people and reaffirmed the Maldives' steadfast support for recognizing Palestine as an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the pre-1967 borders.
