A new dredger, TSHD Prins Der Nederlanden, has arrived in the Maldives to expedite land reclamation works in Hulhumalé Phase III. The vessel is scheduled to begin operations tomorrow and will work alongside TSHD Oranji, which is already active in the area.
According to updates shared on the President’s official X account, bund wall construction in Giraavaru Falhu will begin once the Environmental Impact Assessment and other required procedures are completed.
Reclamation of Hulhumalé Phase III is expected to be completed by the end of next month. After the phase concludes, both dredgers will be deployed to Giraavaru Falhu, where reclamation is anticipated to finish within two to three months.
Land reclamation efforts across the Malé region—part of a wider initiative to address housing needs—continue to progress rapidly, with further acceleration expected in December as additional dredgers are mobilised.
