In the anti-drug operation "Alimagu" conducted by the police, 110 individuals have been arrested and items worth MVR 23 million have been seized.

In an interview with "Sangu TV," Home Minister Ali Ihusaan stated that the government's top priority is to stop the importation of narcotics into the Maldives and to halt those involved in selling these substances.

The Minister revealed that in the operation named "Alimagoo," which was launched by the police on the 13th of this month, 110 people were arrested and MVR 23 million worth of items were seized. He added that the operation was conducted based on six months of intelligence work.

The Minister stated that during the operation, police confiscated narcotics and various equipment used for trafficking, and also shut down locations where drug trade was taking place.

The Minister further stated that the next step is to target the major traffickers who import narcotics and operate this trade on a large scale, and that the law will hold them accountable for the immense harm they have caused to the public
