Terminal 1 of Velana International Airport (VIA) has officially begun serving the German airline Condor.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) held a special ceremony to mark the start of Condor’s operations from the new terminal. The event was attended by Mujthaba Jaleel, Managing Director of WAMCO; Stephen McKenna, Area Manager for Condor’s Intercontinental Stations; and Ron Plan, Regional Manager for Condor’s Asia and Indian Ocean ground operations.

During the ceremony, MACL formally opened Condor’s check-in counters. The airline’s 302 departing passengers received gifts, while the 277 passengers arriving on Condor’s first flight to Terminal 1, flight DE2320, were warmly welcomed with traditional cultural performances.

Condor first began operating flights to the Maldives on 31 October 1981 and is now the first German airline to operate from VIA’s Terminal 1.

With Condor joining the terminal, the number of airlines operating from Terminal 1 has increased to 26. MACL stated that it remains committed to providing high-quality services to all airlines flying to the Maldives.
