Raud Ahmed Zilal has pleaded guilty to the charges raised against him in connection with the fall of Hawa Yumnu Rasheed on 18 April.
Raud was formally charged on 4 June with failing to provide assistance to a person in need without a valid reason. He entered a guilty plea during a hearing held at the Criminal Court on Wednesday. The verdict is expected to be delivered next week.
If convicted, Raud faces a sentence of one month and six days in prison.
Raud was initially arrested on 24 April in connection with the incident and remained in custody until his release on 27 May.
Yumnu collapsed while staying with Raud in Fentennoy. Police had earlier stated that no one other than Raud was present at the time of her fall, while Yumnu’s family claims that four other individuals were also in the house. The case remains under judicial review.
