A man has been arrested in connection with a case where an 18-year-old young woman was held hostage and assaulted inside a house in Male'.

In a message sent to the media, police stated that the person arrested in the case is Ahmed Aahil Munaz, 19, of H. Four Season. He was arrested on Tuesday night.

Police also stated that when Aahil was brought before the Criminal Court for a remand hearing, he was remanded in custody for 15 days.

The police are currently investigating the case.

While an arrest has been made in the case of holding a woman hostage and assaulting her, the police are also investigating another case of suspected sexual assault of a 24-year-old woman who sought police assistance on a street in Male' last Sunday evening.
