It has been decided to develop an additional senior citizens' center in Hulhumale' with the aim of enhancing the social well-being of its elderly residents.
To this end, an agreement was signed between the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and the Ministry of Social and Family Development at a special ceremony held yesterday at the Umar Zahir Building. On behalf of HDC, the MoU was signed by the company's Managing Director, Ali Zuhair, while State Minister Ibrahim Ismail Ali signed on behalf of the ministry.
HDC stated that the purpose of the senior citizens' center is to establish another center in Hulhumale' that can provide comprehensive services to the elderly residents. The agreement was signed to complete the facility within 24 months, equipped with the most complete and modern amenities required by senior citizens, according to HDC.
The center will be developed to provide health screenings and specialized treatments for the elderly. It is also planned to include a relaxation area to enhance mental well-being, an outdoor space for recreation, and a designated reading area.
A center developed in the Hiyaa area of Hulhumale' Phase II to improve the quality of life and promote a healthy lifestyle for senior citizens began its services earlier this year. HDC continues to work towards developing and providing various such facilities needed by the residents of Hulhumale'.
