The government has decided to open applications in January for flats and land plots to be distributed under its "Boahiyaavehikan Enmenah" policy.

The Housing Ministry has now published the related guidelines in the Government Gazette.

The Housing Ministry has announced the categories for the total of 15,000 land plots to be distributed from Greater Male' Area. According to the guidelines, the plots will be 1,250 square feet in size.

As per the guidelines, 7,000 plots will be allocated to individuals who have been registered in Male' household registries since birth. The guidelines also state that 1,000 plots have been allocated for those registered in the Male' residents' registry.

Additionally, 2,000 plots have been included for individuals who were registered in Male' household registries at a later time.

The guidelines also include 3,000 plots for residents from other islands who live in Male'. To be eligible for these plots, applicants must have been living in Male' for at least 15 years.

Special categories include:

  • 500 plots for those deprived of property ownership due to maternal inheritance issues
  • 1,500 plots for those deprived of property ownership due to maternal inheritance issues

According to the guidelines for flat distribution to Male' residents published today, applications can be submitted from January 4 to March 3 through the www.hiyaavehi.gov.mv portal.

Under these guidelines, 7,500 housing units are set to be distributed. Of these, 4,000 housing units are designated for Male' residents, while 1,500 housing units are allocated for people from other islands living in Male'.

The remaining housing units are reserved for government employees, workers in other sectors, the poor, and persons with disabilities.
