President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised the importance of adopting healthy habits from an early age to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs), marking World Diabetes Day with a message shared on his official X account.
In his statement, the President stressed the need for individuals to remain aware of their overall health by paying attention to diet, physical activity, and daily routines. He also underscored the value of discipline in avoiding harmful habits. He extended his appreciation to NGOs and individuals who continue to play an active role in raising awareness about NCD prevention across the Maldives.
The President called for continued dedication towards nation-building, encouraging Maldivians to strive for a healthier future free from preventable diseases.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also marked the occasion with a message on X, noting that a healthy society can only be achieved through collective effort. She encouraged citizens to seek reliable information on maintaining good health and to incorporate healthy practices into their daily lives.
She expressed hope that, through shared commitment, the Maldives will become one of the least affected countries by NCDs such as diabetes, while strengthening its capacity to provide quality care for those living with such conditions.
