President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that 3,000 new housing units will be launched in the Greater Malé Region this year, with agreements to be signed and projects awarded within the next six weeks.
Speaking at the Republic Day function, the President said over 7,000 housing units have been finalised, including 400 finalised under the Indian Line of Credit, with additional projects supported by international partners.
He highlighted rapid progress in land reclamation, including the start of Hulhumalé Phase 3 and ongoing works in North Thilafalhu and Rasmale’. The Rasmale’ project will accelerate next month with the arrival of more dredgers.
The President added that housing applications will open soon for individuals aged 18 and above who have not previously received housing, prioritising families and those most in need.
