A vessel in the Hulhumalé lagoon has caught fire.

In a message sent to the media today, police said they had begun responding to a fire incident, and that information about the incident was received by police at around 12:55 PM today.

MNDF said that fire fighters from the MNDF Fire and Rescue Service Hulhumalé Fire Station are working to extinguish the fire on a launch in the Hulhumalé lagoon.

Police said the fire has now been extinguished and that it had broken out on a fuel transport vessel. Police also said that a Bangladeshi national on the vessel suffered burns to his hand and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
