FIFA has announced the launch of a new award, the FIFA Peace Prize – Football United the World, to honour individuals who have made outstanding contributions towards promoting peace and unity.

The award aims to celebrate those who use football as a means to bridge divisions and inspire global harmony. FIFA stated that football serves as a universal symbol of peace and has the power to bring people together across borders and cultures.

The first FIFA Peace Prize will be presented during the 2026 World Cup draw ceremony, scheduled to take place on 5 December 2026 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., ahead of the tournament in North America.
