Two individuals have been arrested in a drug operation conducted in L. Dhanbidhoo and L. Gan.

As part of the police's ongoing efforts against drugs, the operation led to the arrest of Yoosuf Naseem (60) of L. Gan / Thundi. Hudhufas, and Ahmed Shafeeg (55) of L. Mundoo / Heenavila.

Police said yesterday that Yoosuf Naseem was arrested last Wednesday during an operation in Gan under a court order. In the operation conducted jointly by Gan Police and Counter Narcotics Intelligence, he was arrested and his residence was searched, where substances believed to be drugs (with a provisional weight of 5.39 grams) and items believed to be used for drug trafficking were found.

In connection with this case, police said that when Yoosuf Naseem was presented to court for a detention hearing, the court ordered his detention for ten days.

Police said that Ahmed Shafeeg was arrested from Dhanbidhoo last Thursday in an operation conducted jointly by Dhanbidhoo Police and Counter Narcotics Intelligence. When he was searched at the Dhanbidhoo harbor, substances believed to be drugs were found. Police said the provisional weight of these substances was 46.32 grams.

In connection with this case, when Ahmed Shafeeg was presented to court for a detention hearing, the court ordered his detention for five days, according to the police.

Police are continuing to investigate both cases.
